Alexander is a lonely young lawyer in Victorian London, living with the constant fear that someone will discover the attraction he feels towards other men. When he's sent to Transylvania to help a minor nobleman with some real-estate contracts, it's a welcome distraction from his life. Enchanted first by the forests and mountains, Alexander's attention and awe is soon captured by Vlad, the handsome groundsman at the castle where he's staying. But Alexander's new lover has a dark secret of his own, one connected to the strange stinging bites Alexander's felt as he drifts off to sleep each night
