Horrifying things happen but they don't happen in a way that is defined enough to be sure they really even happened- how can we be horrified if we don't really know what is even going on?
There is as much talk in this novel about love and flower imagery and stealing off with lovers for secret trysts in the night as there is depictions of weird torture and the like. This is very unfair to neurotypicals looking for advice from other neurotypicals who can actual help them. OMG! Another great book from Brenda! I'm total in love with Bennett and Charlotte. By learning to ask them exactly how they're suffering and help them express their feelings thoroughly, you'll encourage an atmosphere of honesty. This, of course, cannot be tolerated.
