An Interpretation of Religion: Human Responses to the Transcendent
Editorial : From Library Journal A leader in interfaith interpretation of religion, Hick has written what will probably become a classic in the philosophy of religion. Clear, readable, and comprehensive, the book is an expansion of his 1986-87 Gifford Lectures. After outlining his argument in an introduction stressing the nature of religion as a family-resemblance concept, Hick investigates religion from numerous perspectives: phenomenological, epistemological, pluralistic, and in terms of soteriological, ethical, and truth-claims criteria in order to conclude "that the great world traditions constitute different conceptions and perceptions of, and response to, the Real from within the different cultural ways of being human." Highly recommended for all academic and seminary libraries.- Carolyn M. Craft, Longwood Coll., Farmville, Va.Copyright 1989 Reed Business Information, Inc.
It'll knock your socks off.. At least some of the criticisms of his work show a boundless amount of mendacity or foolishness, as should be obvious to anyone who has actually bothered to read Woodmorappe's work. I only hope they are less filled with errors.
Added comment: After doing the practice tests, they had errors too.. in Geology, B.A. I'm not sure there's a great way around this if you want to use the Excel sheet for all the scenarios, but perhaps beefing up the "why" parts more to compensate for the diversion would be good. She wears high heels, because she likes them and they add to the distraction advantage her outfit gives her. Mr. Thorough and practical, this book is a good reference. If you ever wanted to know anything (repeated for emphasis: anything) about conducting, this is truly your book. I am not a mathematician, and this book did a good job explaining the theorem to me, how it works, then taking me through gradually more complex applications of it.
